Europe's airports with highest growth since 2010

The European airport trade association ACI Europe released its traffic report for December, Q4, H2 and full year 2016, registering the best performance since 2010 and confirming the continent's improving economic conditions.

The biggest Europeans airports for freight were FRA, the only one in Europe handling more than 2 million t of cargo (2,029,058 t, +1.8%), CDG (1,984,029 t, +4.6%), AMS (1,662,014 t, +2.5%) and LHR (1,541,201, +3%).

By adding information from the German trade body ADV, we learn that from 2016, Europe has a fifth airport which handled more than 1 million t of airfreight: LEJ (1,047,881 t, +6.4%).

Focussing on Switzerland, ZRH topped the list (312,938 t, +7%), followed by BSL (54,915 t, +12.1%) and GVA (48,803 t, +8.1%). (ah)
