The Port of Rotterdam is back

The Dutch port of Rotterdam has also passed the worst of the crisis. Container throughput rose to 15.3 million teu, while total throughput was 7.3% higher than in 2020, amounting to 468.7 million t. This corresponds to the pre-crisis level of 2019.
While dry bulk cargo volumes in 2021 were 23.4% higher than in 2020 and 5.6% higher than in 2019, liquid cargo throughput in 2021 was 6.6% higher than in 2020, but 3.1% lower than in 2019.
An increase in revenue and lower costs achieved an operating result before interest, depreciation and taxes of EUR 512.2 million (2020: EUR 477.5 million). Revenues rose by 2.6% compared to 2020 to EUR 772.7 million, while operating expenses fell by 5.5% to EUR 260.5 million. (sh)
