Published November 23, 2020 — On 17 November, the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) approved a draft of amendments to annex VI of the Maripol agreement to further reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from maritime transport in the short term.These new measures, which were discussed at the 75th session of the marine environment protection committee (MEPC 75), aim to achieve the levels of ambition established in the IMO's initial strategy, to reduce the carbon intensity of international maritime transport in 40% by 2030, compared to 2008.

Published September 29, 2020 — According to the current flash estimate, the container throughput index published by the RWI - Leibniz Institute for Economic Research and the Institute for Shipping Economics (ISL) rose slightly in August 2020, seasonally adjusted, from (revised) 115.2 to 116.1, while the recovery of world trade gains further ground.

Published September 2, 2020 — After almost 18 months of construction and renovations, Al-Rashed International Shipping Co's Headquarters construction is finally complete. Commissioned in Dec 2018, the target was to complete the renovations by Dec 2019. The construction was completed on schedule, and the finishing touches were underway when COVID19 struck. Once the lockdown restrictions were eased, the building renovations were completed by the first week of Aug 2020.

Published June 26, 2020 — The brand new Berlin airport (airfreight code BER) will be open this autumn on the 31st of October. All air traffic in the German capital region will then be concentrated at the airport BER. Berlin-Tegel (TXL) and Berlin-Schönefeld (SXF) Airport will be closed in October/November 2020.Our Members of the Cooperative Tandem Global Logistics Network and Tandem partners in Germany, Rieck Sea Air Cargo International, recognized the importance of being present at this new location. So they moved their Berlin (TXL) office to the new BER site on the 12th of June and they were already fully operational again with effect from the 15th.

Published November 18, 2019 — Two heavy-lift shipments to Rio de la Plata departed from Genoa. Iscotrans oversaw the sending of a prototype of excavation machine that is going to be used for the completion of Riauchelo outfall tunnel under the Rio de la Plata. At the end of October, an excavation machine left the port of Genoa to be used by the contractor for the construction of an emissary tunnel about 12 km long under the bottom of the Rio De La Plata, in Argentina.
